The Cold is Here...Gardener's Rejoice!

The cold weather is coming quickly, and gardener's should be thrilled.!

Did you know that some vegetables created a biological "antifreeze" that turns starches to sugars, making them even sweeter.

Kale and cabbage, Lettuce, Swiss Chard, Carrots, Parsnips, Brussel Sprouts, Beets, Leeks, Turnips, Rutabagas and Celeriac are all best after a touch of frost.

If you want to extend your harvesting season, use hoop tunnels or row covers. Or, re use.....these are light covers that a school in my area was throwing away.....this is the young lettuce I still had growing in in 27 degree weather last winter. Still sweet and delicious.
